DRIVERS PLEAD GULTY IN COURT
Three local drivers arrested for impaired driving received a one-time reprieve in Provincial Court in Princeton on May 10. They entered guilty pleas to a section of the B.C. Motor Vehicle Act rather than to the Canada Criminal Code, thus avoiding a criminal record.
Gary J. Dobie was arrested June 1, 2006, when police noted his erratic driving. The 58 year old Princeton resident pled to driving without due care and attention and was ordered to pay a $600 fine.
William Gammie entered a similar plea. The 53 year old Tulameen resident was arrested July 28, 2005.
He was ordered to pay a $1,000 fine and is restricted to driving only between the hours of 5:00 AM and 7:00 PM Monday through Saturday for a period of three months. He agreed to a $500 peace bond to ensure compliance with the conditions.
Harvey Shields, age 23, of Princeton, was arrested March 13, 2007, after being stopped for a burnt out headlight. Police noted signs of impairment and charged him as an impaired driver following a breath test. Shields was ordered to pay a $600 fine and is prohibited from driving anywhere in B.C. for one year.
HEDLEY MAN ADMITS GUILT
Alexander J. Seaman, of Hedley, appeared in Provincial Court in Princeton to plead guilty to an impaired driving charge. He was arrested on March 9, 2007, after police pulled him over for questioning on another matter. Seaman showed signs of impairment due to alcohol and was charged following a breath test.It was Seaman's third conviction for impaired driving. He was ordered to pay a $1,000 fine and is prohibited from driving anywhere in Canada for one year.
