MAN FACES BIG FINE, FOUR YEARS
Michael Wilson, age 45, of New Westminster, was on the move from Oliver to his present residence on November 18, 2003, when he was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.
At his trial on July 14 in Provincial Court in Princeton, Wilsonıs lawyer argued for dismissal based on the length of time it had taken to go to trial, and on prejudice against his client by waiting so long and some complex issues with the Motor Vehicle Branch.
Judge Sinclair did not buy into this argument, and left Wilson with the option of continuing the trial.
Wilson opted to change his "not guilty" plea to admitting guilt.
He was ordered to pay a $1,000 fine, serve two years probation, and is prohibited from driving for the next four years.
DRIVER LOSES LICENCE
When Cassidy B. Gilfillen was apprehended on January 10, 2004, he had no driverıs licence and gave a false name.Police discovered his true identity and the fact that he was driving while prohibited.
On July 14, in Princeton Provincial Court, Gilfillen pled guilty and was ordered to pay a $500 fine. He faces another year of driving prohibition.
MAN AGREES TO PEACE BOND
On July 14, in Princeton Provincial Court, Keith Peterson agreed to enter into a 12 month peace bond. The lower mainland man agreed to a $500 peace bond with two conditions: no contact with former spouse, and 12 months of counselling.PRHIBITED DRIVER LOSES MORE TIME
Represented by an agent, Vanessa Tronson, of Edmonton, entered a guilty plea to driving while prohibited.She had been stopped on March 27, then charged when police discovered her driving privileges had been suspended.
On July 14, in Princeton Provincial Court, Judge G. Sinclair ordered Tronson to pay a $500 fine and revoked her driving privileges for one year.
JUDGE FINES DRIVER
A 47 year old Langley man appeared in Provincial Court in Princeton on July 14 to plead guilty to an impaired driving charge.He was apprehended near Princeton as a result of motorists reporting his erratic driving to police on April 24, 2005.
Ronald McMillan was ordered to pay a $600 fine plus a $90 victim surcharge.
He loses his licence for one year and was ordered to abstain from alcohol for six months.
MAN MUST PAY
On July 14, in Provincial Court in Princeton, Blain Morin pled guilty to a breach of probation.He had been ordered to pay $600 to Dan and Shannon Martindale, and had not done so. He recently began working, and promised to pay restitution.
He was given a further period of probation which will last as long as it takes to pay what he owes, or one year of $50 per month beginning in August.
