HEDLEY MAN FINED FOR POOR DRIVING
In Provincial Court in Princeton on December 13, Jedson Long entered a guilty pleas to a charge of driving without consideration for others.
The 31 year old Hedley man was charged after an RCMP officer heading east from Hedley saw two motorcycles being driven over the speed limit and had to swerve to avoid a collision. The officer followed the two vehicles into Hedley and recognized Long as one of the drivers.
Long was sentenced to pay a $600 fine and serve a six month period under a $500 recognizance. He may not drive between the hours of 8:00 PM and 6:00 AM unless for a medical emergency. While he is driving, he is to be accompanied by another adult with a driver's
licence.
FIGHT LEADS TO COURT
A dispute between Tina L. Despres and Brian Aiken in Hedley result in a court appearance for Despres on December 13 in Provincial Court in Princeton to answer to an assault charge.
In the course of the argument with Despres, she hit Aiken on the nose. When Despres was apprehended, she was drunk and spent the night in jail. Information provided to the court indicated Despres is dealing with substance abuse problems.
Despres agreed to resolve the matter with a $500 peace bond lasting one year, during which she is to have no contact with Brian Aiken unless he attends the same Alcoholics Anonymous meeting she does.
JUDGE SAYS 'NOT GUILTY'
In Provincial Court in Princeton on December 14, Sherry Caruso stood trial on a mischief charge. She was accused of scratching a vehicle belonging to her ex-husband's girlfriend.
After all of the evidence was presented to the court, Judge G. Sinclair said there was insufficient evidence to convict Caruso of the crime, and pronounced her "not guilty".
