Woman serves probation

A local woman, Maria Ball, appeared in Provincial Court in Princeton on December 11 to plead guilty to a charge of causing a disturbance. Information presented to the court indicated police had been called to Rotary Park on August 23 on a complaint of a woman swearing and creating a disturbance in the park.

The officer who responded to the complaint asked Ball to leave the park, and she swore at him, refusing to leave. The officer believed Ball's behaviour appeared to be the result of being under the influence of some substance. The officer arrested Ball and took her to a cell at the RCMP detachment building.

Ball, who has a short related history of mischief charges, was sentenced to 12 months of probation, with conditions.
