BRAIN DROPPINGS

It's been one of those weeks where I've spent more than one night tossing and turning.

Usually it's because I had a cup of coffee after 6:00 PM, but lately I've had all sorts of strange questions pop into my mind and I'm not so sure who to ask.

Question #1 - Part 1: Why did the Town spend so much money on two different 'Welcome to Princeton' signs at the West entrance to the community, but have barricaded the campsite at the East entrance to Princeton?

Question #1 - Part 2: Based on Question #1 - Part 1 I have to ask are we really welcoming anyone to Princeton?

Question #2: Why are residents so upset about a mining company intent on mining for gas near or below the water table while we seem to have no problem with another mining company possibly reactivating an open-pit mine?

Question #3: Why is it that six months before an election the Provincial Government is spending piles of money in Princeton, where the very same government often just ignores us? (Environment Pinhead Barry Penner take note).

Question #4: If I put a cup of water with instant coffee in a microwave oven for five minutes, will I really go back in time?

Question #1 - Part 3: Now that we understand there's going to be a lot more traffic to Princeton thanks to the $100,000 gift given to the Princeton Airport I wonder if we really need to spend any of it on lights when all pilots need to know is that they need to bank gently to the right once they fly over the open-pit mine. Okay, not really a question, but it's kept me awake at least for an hour last week pondering the view from up there.

Question #5: Once a Bylaw Enforcement Officer is hired, what bylaws will be enforced? Will there be a rotation system implemented where certain parts of the bylaw manual will see more attention than others? Will any of us have any say on what bylaws should be enforced more frequently?

Question #6: Speaking of bylaws, will the 'no bikes' on sidewalks bylaw ever be enforced? I sort of thought the term 'sidewalk' was self-explanatory (ie; a place to walk beside the road) but I guess I was wrong. Okay, I veered off track again. But this issue also kept me awake for about 20-minutes the other night. I paced the floor, let the dog out then forgot to let him in, so he barked until he woke up the neighbours. They phoned me to complain and I thought possibly I had violated a noise bylaw or something until the alarm went off and I realized I was actually asleep in the backyard. That's it. No more coffee after 6:00 PM for me.

Question #7: Why is it so many people seem to think that we are making a bundle in the newspaper business because we have a new car when in actual fact the lease on the other one had just expired?

Please somebody tell me I'm worrying about things I shouldn't be worried about.
