THE PRINCETON CONSPIRACY THEORY

The recent volume of Letters to The Editor we've received concerning deer, marmots, bylaws and the Trans-Canada Trail makes us think there exists somewhere in that mix a conspiracy of some kind.

Think about it...we haven't heard much about the TCT and how ATVers and others appear to be creating problems for users until the deer problem reached a point where a Limited Entry Hunt has been considered.

We haven't heard so much as a peep about bylaw infractions until those cute little marmots starting taking over the town.

We've said it before and we will say it again...the marmots are up to something and they've formed their own vigilante group with the deer.

No doubt it all started when one of them got a swig of that prime un-boiled East Princeton water and things have gone haywire from that point onward.

What better time to work on their plan to take over Princeton than peak tourist season when most of us are distracted with the extra cashflow tourism can often bring.

When you think about it, if all we have to be concerned about is marmots, deer, ATV's on the TCT and bylaw infractions, we've got it pretty good compared to most other communities.

NEWS FLASH: People from bigger cities actually WANT to live here because all we seem to get twisted out of shape about is marmots, deer, ATV's on the TCT and bylaw infractions.

They WANT to live here. It wasn't so many years ago that people couldn't move AWAY FROM HERE fast enough. They said there was nothing to do here except fill your tank and get some ice cream.

Now we have marmots, deer, ATV's on the TCT and bylaw infractions to keep us occupied.

We'd take those things over big city crime any day.

If you still lock your doors and you live in Princeton it's only because you moved here from the city or you're afraid to come home one day and find a deer in your livingroom distracting you from the marmot raiding your refrigerator and racking up long distance charges on your phone.

The marmots and deer are our natural resources (a-hem, along with coal, bug-infested trees and methane) so maybe we should be proud of the fact people ACTUALLY want to have their gardens raided by deer and have in a twisted way helped drive the real estate market to the point that every realtor in town should be either kissing marmots or offering a couple of deer to each new homeowner as a 'welcome to Princeton' house warming gift.

We have something people want...but for some reason many residents don't want these natural resources.

We think they are missing something more than a few flowers or veggies here.
