TAKING THE PLUNGE

The recent news out of New York about some brand named bottled water actually being nothing more than tap water got us thinking.

One of our many natural and largely untapped (pardon the pun) resources in the Similkameen is our water.

The Town of Princeton likely spends a fair sized bag of money each year etting our water tested so that it continues to be safe for us to drink, waste and otherwise abuse while over watering our lawns.

Which, by the way, we would never endorse or suggest as we hear there are some stiff penalties connected to the waste and abuse of that natural resource.

The tap water story made us think that maybe we should be looking at this resource in a different light.

Here's how we'd develop this scam, er, concept.

Considering the Town of Princeton is doing all the testing for us, we've already saved some money. All we need to do is convince our friends and neighbours to give us their empty bottles and we'd start filling them with that wonderful Princeton tap water.

We've even got a name for the product: Similkameen Breeze.

The marketing scam, er, concept would be a big hit on those scorching hot August days where a simple slogan like "What would you do for a cool Similkameen Breeze?" would help us establish the product.

Contests could be held and maybe the winner would be given a week to fill as many bottles as possible from their kitchen tap and the bottle labels would read "Limited Edition Bottled in Joe Smith's Kitchen on Tuesday."

Or maybe additional product lines would include Similkameen Breeze Allison Flats, Similkameen Breeze Downtown and Similkameen Breeze Third Bench as possible additions.

Gone will be the days when you'd take a bottle of your own 'home made' wine to a dinner party or give as a personalized gift at Christmas or special occasion with a cleverly created label to match the event.

With the Town of Princeton doing the hard work (water testing) to make sure those microbes and minerals stay within their allotted however many parts per billion, it can't miss. Or as our marketing department would say, it's just a drop in the bucket of what it could be.

The best part is that the price would be right.

Got a hankerin' for some of that sweet Similkameen liquid gold? Just stick a glass under your tap and let it flow or buy a bottle of Similkameen Breeze The Tunnel Edition from us for $23.99. The choice is yours.

Yep, we may have just tapped into something here.
