SUMMER IS OFFICIALLY OVER
Yep, we said it.
Summer is officially over.
You know how we know this? The Back To School advertising we've seen on TV since August 1st first clued us in.
Since August FIRST!!!
Parents all over are probably rejoicing in the fact that the countdown to school is ticking close to single digits which means once the kids get back in class, the quicker the parents get to actually enjoy what's left of Summer.
What we find most interesting about this time of year is the conversations in our office.
"What happened to summer? We never really had one you know, and now it's back to school? What happened to summer?"
Apparently the month of plus 35-degree weather wasn't enough.
It felt like it lasted a month.
"Sure, it's back to school. It's so those stores that had a slow summer can make some money. That's why they start the back to school sale earlier each year."
Slow summer? If getting stuck behind a slow moving RV once a week since May long weekend means it's been a slow summer, well you must have missed the crowds at the beaches and malls and wherever else you went following that slow RV.
Back to school is actually a season.
You have winter, spring, summer, Back To School, Halloween, Christmas and winter. It's been this way for years, although it just gets harder and harder to accept each year that once Back To School season is upon us it means summer is done.
Toast. Finished. Over.
It also means its time to locate the snow shovels and pull out sweaters, mitts and winter boots before Halloween season passes. It's been known to snow then, every now and then, you know.
So, what do we look forward to at Back to School season, as we have no children?
For us it means it won't be long and we'll be able to stash away the lawn mower.
Yep, summer is officially over.
