OKAY, LET'S MAKE A DEAL
EDITORIAL - September 26, 2006
It occurred to us that lately we've been relentless in our poking fun at the 'coming soon to your neighbourhood' coal-fired power generation plant.
It's not as if we really understand the process any better than you, which is probably why we've been getting so much mileage out of the issue.
So, we've decided - as a public service - to provide our services FREE OF CHARGE to sort of help with the damage control.
We would like to introduce to you the new, improved, better Compliance Energy Project (Version 2.0)!!!
First of all, for those of you hung up on the idea that coal is an outdated and old technology, we'd like to point out to you that the trend in the past decade has been to go back to the past.
It's all retro where what was once old is new again.
Compliance has cleverly embraced this fad and pulled out what may be considered old technology and re-branded it with a new name. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, the use of coal may be old to you, but when you increase the surface of the coal by pulverizing it into a fine powder, you now have a new product!
Secondly, the mercury issue.
Really, when you think about it, we're only talking itty bitty bits of mercury. Look at it as poisoning you and the environment if you must, but the way Compliance plans to do it is in very small increments. Really!
So in actual fact, you and the environment will be poisoned s-l-o-w-l-y. So slow that your body will likely grow some sort of tolerance to the changes, rather than an extra hand or foot as all those nay-sayers would have you believe.
And besides, a little poison can't hurt you. As for future generations, c'mon on...are you going to be around in 200 years to see the effects on your great-grandchildren and their children? Probably not, so don't worry about it.
Compliance has it all under control. Remember, the key here is a s-l-o-w poisoning.
So hopefully we have helped you to understand the Compliance Energy Project (Version 2.0) a little better. Think of it as our way of making you a little more comfortable with something you may not fully understand.
Soon we'll discuss the finer points on the difference between biomass and wood waste (hint: think retro and re-branding) and why companies use multiplier factors to make the numbers look bigger and better than they really are.
But just like the mercury, we'll share this information with you in small little increments as to educate you s-l-o-w-l-y.
