ALL WE WANT FOR CHRISTMAS

'Twas the night before Christmas and all through the town,

Not a creature was stirring, not a single deer could be found - or something like that.

We've been pestered lately by family members (some as far back as August) for a Christmas Wish List. It got us thinking about things we'd just generally like to see happen and although we're sure Santa can't put the elves on some of these projects, we're going to put them out there anyway.

We get some time off but what about those who don't and end up working through the Holidays? We wish all RCMP, Ambulance, Fire, Emergency Medical Staff, Town Snow Removal Crews and their families a quiet Christmas. One without accidents and incidents that would otherwise pull them away from a peaceful Christmas at home.

The same goes for those who are overseas and unable to be with family.

We wish the 'tradition' of Boxing Day Sales came to an end.

We wish the Town of Princeton snow removal budget doesn't get spent before December 25th and actually ends up with a surplus in March to be rolled over into next winter.

We wish all local businesses a nice finish to the calendar year. They've all deserved a good year after so many bad ones or slow ones.

We wish for even better rechargeable batteries. They've gotten better in recent years, which means they should be getting even better.

We wish that with 450 channels to choose from there'd be times in the day that we wouldn't say 'there's nothing good on TV.'

We wish everyone knew how to drive in the winter.

We wish everyone, regardless of who you are, gets to taste turkey or ham this holiday season with all the fixin's.

We wish telemarketers take a few days off over the holidays and leave the rest of us alone for a day or two. That includes their automated systems. Unplug 'em for a few days.

We wish all travelers get to their destinations safely and make it back home safely.

We wish everyone pauses for at least a moment to remember what the Spirit of Christmas is all about.

We sometimes wish there were eight days in a week, 28 hours to a day. Sometimes we wish time would just stand still, but mostly we wish for more time.

We wish people went back to writing letters in their Christmas cards instead of sending a blanket e-mail with an e-card.

We wish we could find the box of winter gear we stashed away months ago.

We sometimes wish Christmas sweets didn't taste so good.

Okay, we've never wished for that.

We wish people quit writing Christmas as Xmas or saying Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas.

And of course, we wish you a very Merry Christmas!
