THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!

EDITORIAL - December 19, 2006

As this is our last paper for 2006, we want to step away from our usual editorial stance and take an opportunity to say a few things to you - our readers.

First off, we want to thank you for your continued support. We see it in it's many forms from those of you who purchase our product all the way to those who help out by sending us stories, photos, faxes and phone calls offering tips or telling us about your event or something you think we should put in our paper.

Being the only locally owned and operated weekly newspaper in the area is a unique situation. We don't have regional managers or out-of-town owners telling us what should or shouldn't be published.

We get to decide right here, in our office located in downtown Princeton. It also makes us try a little harder to let you - our readers - tell your stories through the pages of our paper.

With a very small staff (two full time, one part time, one casual) we can't get to everything, but we try and we thank those contributors who understand this and help us by sending along their articles and photos.

One other thing about being such a small operation without corporate connections is that we can make some decisions other newspapers can't.

One of our favourite decisions is to not publish a paper during Christmas week. It's a 'tradition' that started when this newspaper first went into business and continues to this day.

It's a week - the only week of the year - that we all get to rest. Since it occurs at Christmastime it allows us to spend that break with family.

Our next issue, which will be out on January 2nd, 2007, will mark the start of our tenth year. We expect it to be an exciting year and encourage you - our readers - to keep telling us your stories, sending us your photos and just keeping in touch with us because without your continued support we are nothing.

On behalf of all of us at the Similkameen News Leader and our head office in downtown Princeton, we wish all of you the very best of the season filled with joy and laughter and good times spent with friends and family.

And thank you so very much for allowing us to be part of your weekly routine in Princeton, Coalmont, Tulameen, Osprey Lake, Hedley, Keremeos, Cawston, Olalla and all places in between.

To our subscribers outside the Similkameen Valley, thank you for your continued support.

And a huge thank you to the news stand locations in Princeton, Hedley, Keremeos and Olalla who allow us to sell our paper in their business. They are also a very important part of our operation and we appreciate their continued support.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!
