LETTERS TO THE EDITOR - May 31, 2005

To the Editor;

I would like to make a point about the amount of money that we pay our politicians when they retire.

Where do our elected people come off thinking that somehow they are entitled to pensions such as the ones that are being paid John Chrétien and Sven Robinson 300,000 and 290,000 respectively.

How do they get away with the idea that retired men and women are only entitled to getting 450 a month to live on?

This is the kind of money that we pay to everyone that has reached 65 years of age.

There are some of you out there, i.e. women that have never had the opportunity to earn big money that is all you get.

Where do politicians and other government types come off thinking that they are so much more valuable then the rest of us? Without us they are nothing.

I think that it is about time some of the people that we elect should open their eyes and start to think more of the general population than they do of themselves.

To the Editor;

A total of 135,000 US troops from "Christian America" in Iraq, cannot protect Saddam from being photographed in his "undies".

How are they going to protect the U.S.A., and the world from terrorists when they arrive?

Peculiar bunch these Christians in how they implement human rights and human dignity "even unto the very least".

And first lady Laura Bush in Arabland preaching human rights to the Muslims? What's that saying? "Best clean up your own house before messing with your neighbors." Boy, talk about hanging out the dirty laundry!

Moral of the story: "Never get caught with your pants down". You could see your end in pictures.
