LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
- July 11, 2006

Dear Editor:

Let's review the first six months of our new federal government. Hidden behind the folksy charm of the new PM is his seeming obsession with building up our armed forces to help George Bush. Now we have the nauseating thought of a Prime Minster trading young Canadian lives for American friendship. Previous instances of bootlicking by our leaders did nothing to endear themselves to the Canadian public. Coming readily to mind is the image of Mulroney sitting on Reagan's knee singing Danny Boy while being shafted on the so-called free trade agreement.

Since 9/11 our neighbour to the south has acted like a wounded, out of control elephant. When Bush the younger got into trouble at school his mother must have told the principal that George is a very sensitive boy and he will behave if you hit the boy next to him. This lesson was not lost on the young Bush. His fathers ties to the Bin Ladens kept him from attacking Saudi Arabia (the home of the suicidal hijackers), so he attacked the country next to it, killing thousands of innocents with no end in sight. The lesson learned as a schoolboy also worked for him previously during the ill-fated Viet Nam debacle. In the great democratic fortress known as America, if your parents have influence you get to send the boy next to you to the killing fields.

I believe that as long as Bush is president, Bin Laden will not be captured because that would ruin a fantastic money deal between the Bushes and Bin Ladens. However, what we will see is more Canadian youth in body bags, Canadian kids who have been brainwashed into thinking that they are helping to democratize a foreign country.

I write this missive to point out that our new government anxiously supports the wounded Yankee elephant while the majority of Canadians just want to get out of his way. PM Harpers recent trip to Afghanistan might have garnered more support from the folks back home if he would have stayed there to lead the boys into battle-----because if he really believes in his mission he should be prepared to back up his words.

Sincerely,
HPToews, Princeton

To The Editor;

Congratulations to Ed and all the performers who performed at the Museum July 1st. You did a great job! A very enjoyable afternoon. Princeton and Coalmont have a lot of very talented people.

As usual, only a very small amount of people turned out to enjoy the excellent show. Princeton people have a very BAD habit of not supporting the efforts of a few people who try to make life a little more enjoyable for the rest of us.

Too Bad, So Sad. You missed a great show. Hope they do it again next year and maybe a few more people could show up.

- Joy Walker, Princeton
