LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
- September 11, 2007

Hello

Thank you to all of the organizations and individuals who took the time to express their interest in bringing Katimavik back to Princeton.

I have been very impressed by the level of interest in and support for Katimavik in your community. It was the enthusiastic support that has consistently been found in Princeton that led me to consider placing a Katimavik project in your community despite the short amount of time since your most recent Katimavik project.

While I am certain that a Katimavik project in Princeton would be a success, Princeton has not been selected as one of our host communities for the 2007 / 2008 program.

We received an outpouring of support from all of the communities that were under consideration and in fairness to communities that have not had Katimavik projects for several years; we have decided to place Katimavik projects in Penticton and Keremeos (in combination with Hedley).

While at this time, we are not able to place a Katimavik project in Princeton, I remain very interested in hopefully placing another Katimavik project in Princeton in future program years.

In the event that we encounter problems establishing the project in one of our new communities, I would like to request the possibility of considering Princeton as a back up potential community. While there is only a remote possibility of problems, I would greatly appreciate the cooperation of Princeton organizations that may be interested in supporting a Katimavik project in Princeton if the need should arise to withdraw from one of the presently selected Southern Okanagan communities.

This cooperation will be taken into consideration when it comes time to selecting a new community in the South Okanagan area. If your organization would consider this option, please reply to this email.

I am sorry that we are not able to commit to placing a Katimavik project in Princeton for this coming program year and would like to reassure organizations that we would like to encourage Princeton to apply to be a community again. There is a good chance that Katimavik will be looking for at least one new community in for a 2008 / 2009 program and I will recommend that Princeton be strongly considered during the selection of future communities.

I thank you for your understanding and wish you all luck in the coming year. I hope to be in contact with each of you at a later date when we are once again able to consider placing Katimavik in Princeton.

Kind Regards,
