LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
- October 16, 2007

To The Editor:

Please make sure NO ONE reads this...because if you do for the third time in three weeks you actually CARE about this community!

I think it will be very helpful if as many Princeton citizens as possible jump on the support wagon to help our town I know I've been talking a lot lately - but what it really comes down to is this:

1. We have until early spring to get organized and everything in place and sorted out. ( That is spring 2008 not 2023!)

2. All we need is two days of work from as many individuals as possible on that one spring weekend preferably before May long weekend.

3. Everyone should show up unless your wife has a baby or your mother died.

4. We can't afford anyone to boycott this!

5. All this is NOT an idea neither an option to think and vote about it is necessary to get our town back on track!

6. Colours for the town buildings on Bridge and Vermilion should be chosen by a handful of woman (YES they always make the better colour choices!). Light blue, lime green, bright yellow and orange are out of the question except where the colors are part of the business logo.

7. We need from wherever and whomever as many small and bigger items from the gold panning and mining era as possible! Anything like wagon wheels complete wagons that resemble the 'good old days' train tracks and ore wagons like the ones we have had at the old hotel for example. All items will have a little tag on it with the name of the person who donated it.

8. When I came here first I thought it was 'kind of funny' to have Bill Miner a town hero in fact the only one it seems. If you really think about it, it is kind of sick to make a criminal a town idol...there must be someone else who lived here in town that is worth more than Bill to be remembered as one of the great Princetonites? Any ideas? This is rather unimportant compared to the other issues we have of course.

9. It is IMPORTANT to get as much feedback as possible please send your opinion on anything I have said to the Editor!!! And add to it if you like!!!

10. I will have more details next week with how we have to approach things here.

11. It is important to tell your friends and neighbors if you read this, not everyone reads the paper regularly discuss it and comment on it please to the Editor. The Editors want your opinion about it just as much as I do.

12. There is no unimportant person in this town everybody who can walk and hold a paint brush or roller is needed!

13. We need pressure washers to clean the buildings a week before painting.

14. We need safe ladders and maybe mobile ladders like the one from the fire department, Telus or Persona.

15. This is going to be so BIG that this town will be on Global TV and other stations for it's effort to change it's look and image in a week!

16. Did I mention that we'll have a great party after the hard days work in town? Maybe at the arena if it can hold enough people.

17. Everyone who helps should get a small prize and I mean everyone! If 1,000 people show up there should be 1,000 prices donated by our businesses for YOUR support!

18. I am talking about the business part of downtown mostly because that is crucial for all of us but the idea is to get everyone involved and that means everyone who paints there own home or rental is just as welcome! If they can have a 'home makeover' in the US every week on TV we can have a town makeover!!

19. Just imagine this as an idea to keep business in town: We order paint from our three possible paint places in town lets say 500 Gallons on an Air Miles Mastercard we could actually give away even trips as a big prize to anyone who helps out.

20. We are not doing it for anyone else but ourselves no politics involved just plain and simple for you and I to enjoy. I don't want anyone to take the lack of beauty today in this town personal I am not after anyone's job and I am not saying someone does a bad job but I am saying that we all have to get the simple changes done very soon it's not just up to a few people who make town decisions it's up to all of us!

21. P.S. You should have smiled or laughed out loud at least once or twice while reading this! That is a good sign!

That means you are interested and care!

Thanks for your time today!

- Stefan Dietz, Princeton P.S.S. I did not mean to talk down on the fire department here in town about the spook house last week! They all do a great job all year round no doubt!

I hope something gets worked out to make it happen and we find about 20 guys who can help at least one weekend day a week before Halloween.
