LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

To The Editor;
I was reading in the paper that our new re-elected Mayor would like the townspeople to let him know whether they would approve of a project to remove the deer from town. Where has he been the last six years?
We have had countless meetings with him and the council over this. Was he not listening?
The majority of the people would like to see them gone. What is he waiting for, another six years?
Councillor Manion says if there's no food for them they would stay away. What are we supposed to do, stop planting vegetable gardens, flower gardens and lawns? Yes, lawns! I think not. I do not plant my gardens to feed the deer.
Come on, Mr. Mayor. Let's get a plan started, before someone gets hurt. Yes, it's going to happen eventually.

Dear Editor;
It seems a shipwreck no longer refers to sunken ships, but rather premiers whose careers are sunk by ferries they purchase.
The latest reports that Campbell's German built ships are lemons must surely be the final straw in his mismanagement of BC, just how much more can we take?
First he ravaged services to rural BC, with closures and cut backs, and then he cast out provincial employees on the eve of a labour shortage. Several who he kept he recently piled on massive raises that reached beyond $100,000 in extra pay!
He has built a convention centre that will cost double - an extra half billion dollars for a centre that will likely sit empty as companies pull back on lavish conventions in tough times. He sold our rail company just before the high fuel prices would make rail profitable and then with few assets or rail employees he kept the CEO position so a buddy could collect a $400,000 pay cheque - yuk.
The legacy of broken dreams and terrible mismanagement will be Campbell's shame, but the expense of it all will be ours to pay and clean up - I can't wait to see this bad dream end in May.
Yours truly,
Gary Gattrell, Kaleden
