LOCAL RCMP REPORT RASH OF ACCIDENTS

Princeton RCMP report attending a number of motor vehicle accidents during a seven day period at the end of June. Police say "driver inattention" was the primary cause of many of the accidents.

On June 22nd at 11:00 AM a motorcyclist lost control two kilometres east of Eastgate on Highway 3 where the motorcycle went off the road to the right, striking a tree stump. The rider was air lifted to the Royal Columbian medical facility suffering a fracture along with internal injuries which were not believed to be life threatening.

On June 27th at 6:25 AM a single vehicle roll-over occurred approximately eight kilometres north of Princeton on Highway 5A. The lone occupant and driver suffered minor injuries, he faces a charge of Fail to Maintain Right and was issued a 24 hour driving prohibition.

On June 26th at 1:00 AM a single vehicle collision occurred where the driver lost control of his vehicle and entered the ditch in the Whipsaw Creek area. The lone male occupant/driver, a resident of Abbotsford, did not suffer any injuries but faces a charge of impaired driving.

On June 28th at 4:20 PM a collision occurred on Highway 3 by Billy's Restaurant where the driver of a Dodge Neon intending to turn north into the parking lot was struck by a westbound Dodge Dakota causing the pick up to roll. Both occupants were transported to the Princeton General Hospital where they were treated for minor injuries.

On June 28th at 10:15 AM a two vehicle collision occurred east of Manning Park Lodge where a driver of a vehicle intending to slow and turn into Boyd Meadows Monument turn off was struck from behind by another vehicle. A charge of following too close was served on the motorist who caused the collision.

On June 29th at 1:00 PM a motorcycle rider lost control on Old Hedley Road 15-kilometres east of Princeton. The rider suffered undetermined back injuries and was transported to Princeton General Hospital.

On June 29th at 6:30 PM a two vehicle collision occurred on Tapton Avenue as a motorist was leaving the Ponderosa Motel parking lot. Minor damage occurred with no injuries.

SCHNEIDER TAKES PEOPLE'S CHOICE

Vermilion Artists hosted another successful Art Show during Racing Days weekend which featured a total of 56 pieces of art by 20 local artists.

The art show, held in the former Goldion Restaurant, The Gallery, at 117 Vermilion Avenue, saw a total of 167 people view the works.

Popular artist Kathy Schneider won the People's Choice Award with a total of 20 votes for her work 'Market Day.'

Honourable mentioned went to Bob Cormack's 'Ruckles Point,' Lyn Melnechenko's 'Barrel Racer,' Penny Sovde's 'Nightfall At Missezula Lake,' Lyn Melnechenko's 'Building A Hoop.' Kathy Schneider's 'Don't Say A Word,' Lyn Melnechenko's 'Stetson,' Kathy Schneider's 'Curious,' Penny Sovde's 'Lone Tree Falls,' Ruth Kavanaugh's 'Fossil #4' and Sue Crompton's 'Guatemalon Woman.'
