RODEO CLUB HOSTS BULL RIDERS FINAL
Princeton Rodeo Club is taking a gamble and rolling the dice in hopes that their plan to host the BC Professional Bull Riders Finals in September, months after the Princeton Rodeo, proves to be a good bet.
From the sounds of the feedback received so far, the group may have an annual winner on their hands.
The BCPB (BC Professional Bullriders Association) has hosted the season end finals in different locations in BC in recent years in an attempt in locating a new, permanent venue for the event.
Depending on how things go September 13th and 14th, Princeton Fairgrounds could be the new home of the annual BC Professional Bull Riders Finals.
The weekend begins with Ladies Barrel Racing slack Saturday morning. The Bullriding Finals start at 1:00 PM and will feature a Grand Entry by the Cariboo Cowgirls Drill Team.
There will be 20 bull rides, then during an intermission the top Ladies Barrel Racers from the morning slack will race again to determine the final winners of the Jackpot events. Another 20 bull rides will follow.
Princeton Rotary Club will host their annual Taste of Ales starting at 3:00 PM which includes a Chili Cook-Off. The Taste of Ales will take place in front of the Fall Fair buildings at Princeton Fairgrounds.
The Rodeo Club will start a Bar-Be-Que at 5:30 PM and will include live entertainment featuring Rodeo Club President Mike Theal. The evening is expected to wrap up at about 10:00 PM.
On Sunday, activities begin at 1:00 PM with the Cariboo Cowgirls Grand Entry followed by 20 bull rides.
Another 20 bull rides will follow a short intermission, with the BC Professional Bull Riders Champions to be determined from the scores tallied over the 4 rides by each of the top twenty riders from Saturday and Sunday.
The day should end around 5:00 PM.
Other activities planned during the weekend will see a full concession stand in operation offering food all day both days as well as a refreshment garden.
The announcer for the weekend will be Al Parsons who was here for the Princeton BCRA Rodeo in May. Stock Contractor will be C+ Rodeos, which have been associated with Princeton rodeos for many years. The Rodeo Clown is Bert Davis the Coppertown Clown.
Admission to the BC Professional Bull Riders Finals is $15.00 per day for adults ($25.00 weekend pass), $10.00 each per day for students and seniors ($17.00 weekend pass) and children under 12 free.

AIRPORT TO HOST TENTH ANNUAL JET RALLY
The Princeton R/C Jet Fliers will celebrate a milestone later this month.
They are in the process of finalizing plans for their tenth annual Jet Rally at Princeton Airport.
"We have jet turbine model airplane pilots come from quite a distance to fly at this wonderful site," says event organizer Bart Ramsay.
"Pilots have come from as far east as Manitoba and south from Washington State and many stay at Princeton area hotels or set up camp around the flying area."
The event, being run under the Model Aeronautics Association of Canada (MAAC), is set for the September 12th weekend.
"We will start setting up on Thursday, September 11th and the last day will be Sunday, September 14th," Ramsay says.
"The first day of normal flying will be on the Friday with Saturday being the main day. Many fliers have to leave fairly early on the Sunday in order to get home for work on Monday."
There will be many opportunities for local residents to view the planes, flying or on display during the event with one special display.
"On the Saturday at around noon, we line up all of the models on the runway and let spectators get up close and personal with the planes and pilots."
What about normal air traffic?
"During the event the Town posts a notice with Transport Canada, NOTAM to let full scale pilots know that the airport has model airplane flying and they can only land when the normal radio overflight procedures are followed."
