SOLDIERS OF TODAY - WARRIORS OF TOMORROW --- PSS GRAD 2005

The theme expressed by Grads of 2005 shows they plan a heroic future. The gym at Princeton Secondary was decorated as a medieval castle for the May 28 ceremonies and awards. As members of the grad class entered, in their gowns, they received a huge round of applause and cameras flashed to mark this special day.

Principal Bill Lawrence gave the official welcome to the audience, but Mayor Keith Olsen conveyed the best wishes and congratulations of the Town of Princeton. He urged grads to use their God-given talents to become active participants in creating a better future.

School Trustee Dina Slowikowski-Campbell brought congratulations from the School Board. She told them, "You are our best and brightest and we want to show you off."

She closed with a long list of prestigious positions to illustrate what other PSS grads have achieved.

Grad guest speaker was retired teacher Steve Fitzpatrick, who gave advice in his customary humorous manner.

He reminded them of their debt to many people who helped them along the way, and encouraged them to set goals for themselves with deadlines to meet. He gave them advice on relationships, money and jobs, all of which was entertaining.

The audience was further entertained by a slide show of all of the grads, beginning with their early years and ending with them pictured in their graduation gowns.

Teacher Sandee Blair hosted the presentation of scholarships and bursaries. (see list)

Diane Rodewoldt presented the Bernice Wardle Trophy, the highest award given by the staff. It goes to the best all-round student. This year, Nathan Howe is the recipient.

Morgan Desabrais and Patrick LePoidevin gave the valedictory address.

They reviewed their experiences of their school years and ended with this message to fellow grads: "Keep on rockin'!"
Each student was presented with a graduation souvenir certificate from the school.

When the last presentation was made, Principal Bill Lawrence wished them well.

In traditional fashion, the grads tossed their caps in the air and cheered. Then they lined up for photos, hugs and handshakes before going to the annual graduation tea. This year, the weather cooperated with blazing sunshine.

Earlier in the week, grads enjoyed a dinner with their parents. The week of celebration ended with a prom on Saturday night.
