OLYMPIC SKIERS SAY THANKS

SICAMOUS EAGLES STUFF POSSE

by Marko and the Slovenia Cross Country Team

The days we spent with you were gone too fast, but the memory will stay forever.

Thank you so much for helping and supporting us girls and the team were very surprise to see that in such a small town and all around there are so many friendly people, and people who like our sport so much.

We spent with you a number of great days, it was easier to forgot the troubles we had with our baggage!

Everything was so perfectly organized. The food was good and the course was one of the best possible for our last preparation before competition.

Ice skating in Canada was a great experience for all of us. It was great in school, cross country can make a big step in your area, because kids know how to live with nature and cross country is a sport which gives everyone the opportunity to be a part of nature.

Thank you so much Kelley, Nat, John H., Ernie, John B. and all of you who helped us. We are going to compete now and we'll do our best not only for Slovenia but also for Princeton - for you.

(The ice skating reference was because the team's equipment was delayed, they had to find other means of keeping their fitness level up for competition - so one of the things they did was skate at the Princeton Arena. Some of them hadn't been skating possibly ever or at least for many years!)

The Slovene's would also like to thank the following volunteers: Hosts: The Bennett's, Norm Druck and Delta Coutu, John and Trisha Akerley. Drivers: John Hughes, Burke Bullington. Cooks: Santo's, Sharon Anderson, Sue Ash, Kelley Cook, Marilyn and Ernie Lawrence, Charlotte Sellers, Shirley Campbell, Karen Brewer, Trenna MacLeod, Susan LePoidevin, Rod Dixon, Rika Ruebsaat, Lorraine Stubbins, Myrna Bosomworth and Johanna Nott. Groomers: Rod Dixon, John Henry. Slovenian Trail Signs: Pat Hayes.

We wish you all the best until next winter and thank you again!
