GRIZZLIES DIG CLAWS INTO PRINCETON

This is what it looks like when Princeton scores

Slashing and cross checking penalties only 21-seconds into the start of Friday nightıs game between Princeton and Revelstoke set the tone for the balance of the contest.

Playing 4-on-4, neither team could score, but when Revelstoke was on the power play at 10:22 they bagged the first goal of the game.

Flying elbows, sticks and pucks sailing into the stands made for a high-spirited contest. At 14:09 one of the linesmen left the ice bleeding after taking a stick to the face. The game continued with only two officials following a short delay.

Revelstoke scored their second goal at 16:46 and at 16:51 the officiating team was back to full strength when the injured linesman skated back into the game to a round of applause.

Revelstoke added one more power play goal with 1:02 left to finish the period leading 3 to zip.

The second period saw more scoring and more physical play from both sides of the rink.

Revelstoke scored goal number 4, another power play effort, at 5:49. Princeton got on the scoreboard at 7:36 with a goal from Brad Davis with assists going to David Wyman and Chad Hohmann. That fired the boys up and they added another one at 8:56 from Conner McGarry (assisted by Jeremy Wagner).

Revelstoke gained some ground with another power play goal at 11:45.

Then the game turned weird. A bit of roughing after the whistle in front of the Grizzly goal at 12:57 saw former Princeton goalie Tony Johnston take a shot at a Posse player who was already down on the ice in front of the net.

Johnston earned a misconduct which delighted the small crowd. A few more penalties were handed out and when play resumed both teams were playing 3-on-3 although Revelstoke had more men in the penalty box.

Princeton added their third goal at 13:25 with Chad Hohmann getting the credit with assists going to Conner McGarry and Jeremy Wagner.

Revelstoke added another goal with 4.8-seconds left. The third period saw much of the same kind of play, but no additional scoring.

Final score: Revelstoke 6, Princeton 3. Shots on goal: 60 per team. Penalty minutes: Revelstoke 48, Princeton 45.
