POSSE BLAST DYNAMITERS

Brad Goss

Valley First Princeton Posse hosted Kimberly Dynamiters at Princeton Arena Friday, February 8th.

Both teams looked evenly matched and played a fast, solid-hitting game.

Princeton opened the scoring at 9:36 when Jeremy Wagner came around the Nitros goal and tried to poke the puck past former Posse goalie Tanner Sheridan on the glove side. Sheridan stopped it, but Wagner stayed near the crease and poked at one rebound and then a loose puck and never gave up until the puck was behind Sheridan in the Kimberly goal.

The short handed goal was unassisted.

Princeton added their second goal at 13:36 on the power play. Riley Ferster fed the puck to Taylor Stuart who then passed to Brad Goss who took that pass from the corner and somehow lured Sheridan out of his goal far enough to sneak behind and pop the puck into the net.

As part of the celebration Goss shared words with Sheridan which earned the scorer a ten-minute misconduct. It didn't matter as the home team was in the lead.

Kimberly did manage to tighten the gap with a goal at 17:00.

The second period saw Princeton score another power play goal at 3:54 (Logan Johnston from Taylor Stuart) and Kimberly replied at 5:54 then tied the game at at 3-all at 16:04.

Princeton's Brad Goss broke the tie with 51-seconds left in the frame. Assists went to Riley Ferster and Tyler Martin.

The third period saw both teams battle it out and at one point a Kimberly goal was waved off as the net had been knocked out of position.

A time out called by the Dynamiters with 45-seconds left in the game saw the eventual empty net, but the visitors did a good job of holding Princeton in their own zone with the extra man, but neither team was able to change the score.

The Players of the Game as chosen by Princeton Dairy Queen/Finning Tractor Kamloops were: #3: Andrew Walsh, #2: Riley Ferster and #1: Brad Goss.

Shots on goal: Princeton 35, Kimberly 31. Final score: Princeton 4, Kimberly 3.

POSSE LOSE 5-1 TO REVELSTOKE

Novice Hockey Tournament

The Valley First Princeton Posse hosted Revelstoke Grizzlies for a make-up game on Sunday, February 10th. The original match-up had been postponed in early January due to highway conditions.

After a scoreless first period and what looked like a scoreless second period, Revelstoke got the first goal of the game with 13.3-seconds in the frame.

The third period was like a bad episode of Survivor. The Grizzlies outwitted, outplayed and in some cases, outlasted the Posse.

Revelstoke scored three goals in the first six minutes of the period and following a scuffle after their fourth goal of the night at 6:20, the game was pretty much over for Princeton.

After a fourth Posse player was sent to the penalty box at 9:32, it set Revelstoke up for a little 5 on 3 hockey. Then at 10:16 there were five Princeton players in the penalty box.

The penalties kept flying and at 8:59, Revelstoke received a penalty shot, but did not score.

By 12:29 Princeton had burned off one penalty and managed only a few seconds of 5 on 4 hockey before another penalty put Revelstoke back into a 5 on 3 situation.

It didn't seem to matter as Princeton did a pretty good job of keeping the Grizzlies off the scoreboard while killing penalties.

Revelstoke did score their fifth goal of the game at 14:06, but by then they only had a one-man advantage.

And like the game of Survivor, the Posse put an alliance together and masterfully executed a play that saw Taylor Stuart feed the puck to Brad Goss who then skated along the boards in front of both team benches to the stick side of the Revelstoke net and shoveled a pass out to Brooks Christensen who then blasted the frozen piece of rubber into the goal.

The goal came at 14:27 and seemed to light a spark which saw the home team continue to rise above the penalties and give their all to the end of the game.

Shots on goal: Princeton 41, Revelstoke 27. Princeton Dairy Queen/Finning Tractor Kamloops players of the game were #3: Kyle L'Arrivee, #2: Riley Ferster and #1: Tyler Martin.
