POSSE DOMINATE LAKERS

Princeton Posse played host to Penticton Lakers in a rare mid-week game February 10th.

The evening was designated Fan Appreciation Night which offered 2-for-1 pricing at the gate, numerous prizes and giveaways and informal speeches between periods thanking fans and volunteers for their years of support.

When it came to hockey, the Posse simply dominated the Lakers. Once Princeton penetrated the Penticton defense and took positions around and near the Laker net it was just a matter of time before a goal was scored.

Princeton's Brendan Stephen scored the first goal of the night at 15:38 ripping a shot that hit Laker goalie Adam Harris on the shoulder and rolled down his back and into the net. Assists went to Dan Hillman and Lee Muir.

The Posse finished the first period with a three-goal lead scoring at 9:37 (Bill Marshall from Dan Hillman and Spencer Kristensen) and 5:55 (Bill Marshall from Chad Brears and Brooks Christensen).

The second period was all Princeton with the home team adding three more unanswered goals giving them a 6-0 lead after 40-minutes of play. Goals were scored at 13:08 (Spencer Kristensen from Evan Stack and Dan Hillman), 11:19 (Spencer Kristensen from Lee Muir and Brody Brewster) and 7:57 (Bill Marshall from Brooks Christensen and Ben Morgan).

Penticton did score the first two goals of the third period (at 19:23 and 14:00) but could not take control of the game away from the home team.

Princeton added another goal at 7:26 (Devon Grossler from Brody Brewster and Chad Brears) and Penticton responded with one of their own at 2:08 but it was obvious by then that they were not going to be able to catch up to the much stronger Posse.

Final score: Princeton 7, Penticton 3. Shots on goal: Princeton 28, Penticton 20. Penalties in minutes: Penticton 5 for 10-minutes, Princeton 3 for 6-minutes.

The win set a franchise record for the Posse giving them a 29-13-0-6 win-loss-tie-overtime loss record after 48 games this season. The previous best record was 29-18-0-5 in the 52-game 2007/08 season.

A total of 11 Posse players earned points in the game including Bill Marshall with 3 goals, Spencer Kristensen with 2 goals, 1 assist and Dan Hillman with 3 assists. Lee Muir, Chad Brears, Brooks Christensen and Brody Brewster all had 2 points with Brendan Stephen, Evan Stack, Ben Morgan and Devon Grossler each earning one.

POSSE WIN SETS NEW RECORD

Two games and two records set for Princeton Posse this past week.

The team set a points record with their victory over Penticton February 10th and two nights later set a franchise win record with 30 after a win February 12th against North Okanagan.

The February 12th game was also the final regular season home game for the Posse. The team quite simply dominated North Okanagan from the opening face off to the final buzzer with 12 players adding 18 points to the team totals.

Dan Hillman and Lee Muir led the way with three assists each with Evan Stack and Brooks Christensen earning two points apiece.

Princeton scored first at 16:48 of the opening frame. Devon Grossler got the goal with assists going to Bill Marshall and Tyler Bestward.

North Okanagan replied at 15:50 and took the lead at 9:57 but it would be the last goal they would score that evening.

Princeton tied the match on the power play at 18:58 of the second period (Evan Stack from Dan Hillman and Lee Muir) and took the lead at 9:55 (Ben Morgan from Brooks Christensen and Chase Salisbury).

The Posse added two more goals (6:28 Ben Reinbolt from Brooks Christensen and Lee Muir and 4:22 Evan Stack from Dan Hillman and Spencer Christensen) to finish the period with a commanding lead.

It was at this point in the game that the Knights changed goalies and Princeton added another goal at 18:56 of the final period from Brendan Stephen. Assists went to Dan Hillman and Lee Muir.

Final score: Princeton 6, North Okanagan 2. Shots on goal: Princeton 23, North Okanagan 14.
