UNDER 16 TEAM INCLUDES LOCAL GIRL
The Female U16 BC Cup Competition took place in 100 Mile House over the weekend of April 2nd to 5th and for the second year in a row Team Okanagan, lead by Penticton coach Mark Elder, won GOLD at the competition.
Players from the region included Josie Schmitz-Burchartz (Penticton), Christine Crawford (Penticton), Colby Williams (Princeton), Chloe Kennedy (Summerland) and Miranda Pendergraft (Osoyoos).
Games results were:
Day 1 vs Kootenay, score 5-2 for Team Okanagan
Day 2 (first game) vs Fraser Valley, score 3-1 for Team Okanagan - (second game) vs. North, score 8-2 for Team Okanagan
Day 3 Gold Medal game ended in a 1-1 tie against the Greater Vancouver team.
A five-minute overtime period began and Team Okanagan scored 23 seconds in to win the Gold. Colby Williams of Princeton scored the game winner.
