CLUB SKATES INTO THE FUTURE
Princeton Figure Skating Club hosted their annual general membership meeting April 25th in Princeton Arena.
The financial report for the skating season showed total revenue set at $31,659.53 and $33,421.98 total expenses leaving a net loss of $1,762.45.
According to Treasurer Heather Musgrove, that's just temporary as there is still some outstanding revenues coming to the club.
"So we have pretty much broken even this year."
The annual Carnival showed pretty much the same result having revenues of $2,155.00 and expenses of $2,267.09 leaving a net loss of $112.09. In comparison, 2006 earned slightly more revenues and expenses leaving a net loss of $163.40.
There was lots of good news including a total fundraising profit of $2,712.78 through chocolate bar sales, the Skate-A-Thon and raffle ticket sales.
Test results were also promising with a total of 39 tests over two test days. Although 8 retries were recorded, a total of 31 tests were passed leaving the 33-year old club with an 80% success rate.
"It was a good season," President Sharan Jung stated.
"It was a successful season for our skaters."
Although it was uncertain at the time if Coach Ken Babington would return for a second season, the membership was upbeat and was already looking at alternatives.
A total of eight Directors were elected including Wanda Marshall, Donna Kostiuk, Sharan Jung, Georgina McCrae-Gibson, Collette Cook, Sharon Dennis, Amanda Carmichael and Amanda Brochu. They will decide amongst themselves who will fill the seats of President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer.
Skater Awards were presented following the business portion of the meeting.
In Canskate A the Most Improved Skater award went to Isha Mehta with Shayla Lindquist named Most Sportsmanlike. The BMO Canskate A Champion is Isha Mehta.
In Canskate B Alexia Boyd was named Most Improved with Hannah Gould Most Sportsmanlike. The BMO Canskate B Champion Award went to Alexia Boyd.
In Group Jessica Musgrove was named Most Improved with Most Sportsmanlike honours going to Keira Miller. Madison Ortwein was presented with the BMO Canskater of the Year Award.
In Starskate the Most Improved Skater Award went to Melissa Dennis with Johnathan Gibson taking Most Sportsmanlike. Taylor Carmichael was named Most Dedicated.
Rachel Jung received the Skater of the Year Award.
