POSSE INVITES INVOLVEMENT

The new Princeton Posse board of directors met May 5th and discussed a number of things related to the community-owned hockey team.

The executive praised the efforts of past board members and volunteers Stan and Arlene Turner along with Kevin and Cathy Robillard for putting together the successful Posse Yard Sale May 2nd in the Princeton Arena parking lot. The event generated $550.00 in revenue for the club.

Shelly Carlson was also recognized for her dedication and hard work in organizing the Rodeo Dance May 9th at Riverside Centre, which saw the Posse, split proceeds with the Rodeo Club.

Discussion around the table at the executive meeting focused on attracting more volunteers to assist on game nights and in other activities throughout the year.

"We have a tremendous group of volunteers including Al and Vivian Dubuc, Gerry and Patti Vinthers, the entire Robillard family and the Turners to name just a few," stated a board director, "but we need to find extra help to lighten the load on these and other volunteers who are essential to the success of this team."

The group decided to issue a blanket invitation to area residents to see what happens. If you are a senior, a hockey fan, a high school student or are new to town and just want to get involved in an exciting organization the Princeton Posse wants to hear from you. If you've volunteered in the past and have taken a break, maybe now is the time to come back to the Posse.

"It's an all-new, totally different group of people running this hockey club," says Marketing Manager George Elliott.

"Maybe you have an interest in a small part of what makes a night of hockey at Princeton Arena so much fun, and if so, you're someone we'd welcome to have working with us."

The club has many places to put volunteers from ticket takers and raffle ticket sales to goal judges, penalty box and security officials to activity planners, sub-committee members and general volunteers.

If you are interested in helping in any way Princeton Posse Club President Jim Manion wants to hear from you. He can be reached at (250) 295-8155 or by e-mail at mahota@nethop.net

The goal is to match volunteers up with their individual interests and to make being part of the hockey club planning committee a fun and rewarding experience.
