BC Lions Golf Tournament

A total of 28 bullriders participated in the 2nd annual Bull-A-Rama last Friday night as part of Princeton Pro Rodeo weekend.

The event, sponsored by Envirogreen Technologies, saw only seven riders make it to the scoreboard including Justin Davis (Williams Lake) 82.5, Jesse Bailey (Pritchard) 82, Steve Hohmann (Quesnel) 81, Ty Pozzobon (Pritchard) 80.5, Trevor Lulua (Hanceville) 78.5, Clint Ross (Big Valley, AB) 76 and Brett Fraser (150 Mile House) 73.

Following a draw to determine three extra spots for the top ten short go, only two riders managed to score again. Justin Davis finished with 79 on Mile High in a re-ride for a total score of 161.5 but it wasn't enough to beat Clint Ross who scored on Urban Legend with 86.5 for a total of 162.5.

Princeton's Brian Rutherford could not reach the 8-second buzzer on a bull named St. Helens. C+ Rodeo provided the rough stock in the BC Professional Bullriders Association event.

Many Saturday scores were shattered on Sunday during Princeton's 6th annual CPRA Dodge Pro Rodeo May 12th and 13th.

In Bareback Denny Phipps of Cochrane, Alberta finished the weekend on top with a score of 81.5 aboard Bubbaganoosh. Matt Bates (Kamloops, BC) was second with 73 ('Bad Spell') and Kevin Taylor (Swift Current, SK) finished third with 69 points ('Pay Day'). All three scored in the money during Sunday's event.

In Tie-Down Roping, Sunday participants took the top three spots with Curtis Cassidy of Donalda, AB finishing first with a time of 9.6-seconds.

Timber Moore (Stephenville, TX) was second with 10.5 and Mark Nugent (Water Valley, AB) was third with 14.1.

In the Saddle Bronc the top two finishers scored in the money on Saturday.

Rod Warren of Big Valley, AB topped the leader board with 80.5 points earned on Medievil Knievil. Jerome Rogan (Big Valley, AB) was second with 80 (³Casino Royal²) and Jeremy Harden's ride Sunday on Badger scored 79 - good enough for third.

In Steer Wrestling cowboys on Sunday took the top two spots. Baillie Milan (Cochrane, AB) clocked the incredible first place time of 3.9-seconds followed by Jeremy Harden with 4.7.

Third place went to Greg Hoar of Innisfail, AB who's Saturday leading score of 6.7 put him in third place overall for the weekend.

In Team Roping teams on Saturday did better than on Sunday with Clint Buhler (Princeton, BC) and Clay Freemantle (Surrey, BC) taking top spot with a time of 8.0-seconds.

Second went to the pair of Rod Spiers (Clinton, BC) and Josh Cahill (Clinton, BC) with 9.2. A third place tie at 12.8 seconds split money between one Saturday team (Cole Pozzobon and Chad Evenson) and a Sunday team (Alex Cripps and Cody Cassidy).

The big winners in Ladies Barrels came during Sunday's performance. Leanne Niddery (Okanagan Falls, BC) was first with a time of 17.73 seconds. Former Princeton cowgirl Aimee Willis of Prince George, BC was second with 17.85 and Laura James (Vanderhoof, BC) was third with 17.91.

In Bull Riding Clinton Ross of Big Valley, AB rode Sweet Pea Saturday for an 85 - good enough for first. Cawston's Quentin Schneider rode Shark's Tale Sunday for an 81.5 and third went to Jesse Bailey (Pritchard, BC) who scored 79 after riding Urban Legend for 8-seconds.
