TOURNAMENT PLANNED FOR RACING DAYS

- submitted

This Racing Days there will be a new event to add to the already busy weekend in Princeton.

Badlands Basketball, a group run by former Princeton resident Jesse McLean, will be hosting a 3-on-3 basketball tournament that will be played outdoors in the downtown area.

"We are hoping to be playing on the streets downtown, but the venue is still being figured out," said McLean.

The tournament will be open to all ages with four divisions separated by age and gender. There will be a male and female 15 and under division and a 16 and over male and female division.

Teams can be made up of three or four players, with three playing on the court at a time.

Registration forms are available at Princeton Secondary School or from Billy's Restaurant. The cost is $30.00 per player and includes a t-shirt.

There will be prizes awarded to the winning team in each division as well as for the winners of the 3-point contest and free throw contest in each division.

"We have run this type of event in Drumheller, Alberta and the community members loved having the tournament played on the town streets. It made for a fun and exciting community event. I love that we are now going to run this, as well as our skills camp in my home town."

The registration deadline is June 16th and for more information please call Adrea McLean at (250) 295-3338.
