CONCERT SOCIETY HOSTS MUSICAL TREAT
What could be more appealing than a beautiful woman making beautiful music?
Cathy Yingling, on behalf of Princeton Concert Society, introduced Haley Simons, on a return engagement. Simons was once again dressed in casual style for her piano concert at the Baptist Church on May 25, but there is nothing casual about Simons' skills as a pianist. She thrilled her audience with her expertise as she played music by Chopin, Brahms and Lizt.
The other side of Simons is her rapport with the audience, as she tells tales about the composers whose music she plays. She relates the stories with a humorous flair, and has her listeners laughing.
At the end of her concert, Simons answered questions about her career.
She is currently scoring music for a television "reality" show, but has worked with dancers and is involved in a group playing contemporary music. She has been working in Edmonton, but is relocating to Vancouver.
Princeton music lovers are fortunate to be able to hear a musician of Simons' calibre, but only 28 people attended the concert.
The grand piano owned by local citizens (thanks to Rotarians, Ernie Lawrence and Karen Smart) proves its worth when pianists like Haley Simons can come here and do a concert. Those who did not attend missed a great performance.
Last year, Princeton Concert Society welcomed Simons for the first time.
Simons plays at Music Under the K and stops in Princeton on her way from the Keremeos music festival. Simons has promised to come back next year.
