LOCAL PLAYER SHARES IN WIN
Oliver Legion sponsors the team and the game is senior slo-pitch.
Princeton's Jack French has played on the team for the past nine years making the commute often twice a week for league games.
That dedication has paid off as not only has French been able to participate in a sport he loves, but the Oliver Legion team has become the best team in their league.
With only a single loss so far this season, the team, formed in 1995, has attracted a lot of attention to the ten-team league.
The senior's slo-pitch league, which has been active for many years, has teams in the Okanagan Valley from Westbank to Osoyoos and is for players 45 and older (women) and men 55 and older. There are also players in their 70's!
The Oliver Legion team also took first place in the annual Joe Bullock Tournament held June 19th to 21st. The team went through the event undefeated.
For French, the trips to Oliver each week are no big deal, but were necessary for him to continue to play ball.
"In Princeton there's only one seniors team," which is not in the South Okanagan slo-pitch league. For more information about the league, call Marie Boychuk at (250) 498-2769.
