CHIEFS EDGE POSSE

hockey game

With more uniformed police, paramedics and security than ever witnessed at Princeton Arena, the Valley First Princeton Posse welcomed Chase Chiefs to their first ever appearance in the Similkameen on October 12th. Both teams played a lightning fast first period and Princeton drew first blood at 9:26 when Wade Masch passed to Scott Ramsay who blasted a shot from the blue line into the stick side of the net. Dan Hillman also received an assist on the power play goal.

The second period saw a slightly less confident Posse going through the motions until Wade Masch scored on the power play at 11:14. Assists went to Dan Hillman and Logan Johnson. Then the game shifted and Chase took over scoring at 12:55, 18:00 and taking the lead with their third goal scored with only 45.8-seconds on the clock.

The third period saw a rather confused Posse manage to make it through the final twenty minutes of play.

Chase widened their lead only 25-seconds into the frame and pretty much controlled the rest of the game until Logan Johnston fired one at the Chase goal, which stretched their goalie out of position and Kellin Brown, slapped the rebound between the goaltenders legs.

That seemed to give the home team the kick they needed and the crowd started to chant, "Go, Posse, go!" which added to the electricity in the building.

A time out with 52.8-seconds to play saw the Posse return to the ice minus their goalie in favour of a sixth attacker. The move was well played and Princeton just hammered Chase putting intense pressure in the Chief zone but could not score.

Another time out with 13.4-seconds left achieved nothing more than a short break for all players. With only seven penalties aside, the teams played a clean game with lots of action along the boards.

Shots on goal: Princeton 28, Chase 23. Final score: Chase 4, Princeton 3.

POSSE WIN BIG AGAINST KAMLOOPS

The final game of a trio of inter-division games in the same weekend saw the Valley First Princeton Posse host Kamloops Storm for an afternoon match on October 14th.

Both teams played a solid first period with Princeton scoring the only goal of the period at 17:31 when Brad Goss took a pass from Scott Ramsay and fired it out from behind the goal line where Taylor Stuart blasted it through traffic in front of the goal for the score.

The second period saw one of many close calls for Princeton. At 15:00 one Kamloops shot on goal was stopped by Princeton's Andrew Walsh, but dribbled out behind his pads but a quick thinking team mate batted it out of the goal crease just before it could cross the goal line.

Princeton scored their second goal of the game when Brad Goss passed the puck from the Posse zone along the boards to Kellin Brown who popped a wrist shot into the Storm goal at 7:11.

Princeton dominated the second period and scored their third goal at 9:14 on the power play. Logan Johnston took a pass from Dan Hillman and sent the puck at the Kamloops goalie who stopped the shot but Wade Masch was in position to score on the rebound.

A fourth goal for the home team was scored on the power play at 13:07 when Brad Goss scored on the rebound. Logan Johnston and Spencer Brooks earned assists.

The final period saw a slightly worn out Posse work the clock in a game that contained many big hits, big plays and big goals.

With just over two minutes to play Kamloops took their goalie out for a sixth attacker and played 6 on 3 hockey until they scored with 1:48 to play.

Shots on goal: Kamloops 30, Princeton 18. Final score: Princeton 4, Kamloops 1.
