POSSE CLIPS EAGLES WINGS

Last Friday night (October 27) Princeton Posse played host to division rival Sicamous Eagles. After coming off a successful road win against Summerland earlier in the week, the Posse had everything to gain with a win at home against the Eagles.

They did not disappoint.

Princeton played one of their best games so far this season and fans are already talking about play-offs.

Princeton's first goal came at 1:13 with Sean Carr getting credit with an assist going to Brett Van Ripper.

Princeton's Jordan Lane, listed at 6-foot-7, ended up in a fist fight with Danny Stevens of Sicamous following a face-off in Posse territory only 1:21 into the game. Both boys were well matched with each scoring solid punches to the face. The officials let them fight it out and sent both to the penalty box.

Princeton did an excellent job of killing penalties often clearing the puck far into the Sicamous zone to tick off seconds.

It also revealed that the Posse seemed to play stronger short handed than at full strength although the majority of scoring was on the power play.

After one period, Princeton was ahead 1 to zip.

The second period saw more of the same performance from the Posse. Not only were they outplaying Sicamous, Princeton's goalie Evan Kerambelas played an amazing game between the pipes. His quick glove hand was unbeatable!

Princeton scored goal #2 at 10:10 with credit going to Jeremy Wagner with assists to Liam Darragh and Alex Young and Kyle L'Arrivee broke a scoring slump with goal #3 at 15:40. Assists went to Drew Knolwes and Peter Purves.

Another goal by L'Arrivee at 17:03 clanged off the crossbar and was waved off by the referee. At a stoppage in play the official consulted with Goal Judge Anthony Aiken about the play.

Aiken told the News Leader the ref didn't see the puck go in but "the puck hit the crossbar and went into the top of the net."

The goal became official at 17:38 with an assist to Peter Purves.

With only 1:52 left to play, Princeton's Alex Young took a hard hit in the corner and went down. There was a stoppage in play as he was attended to by coaches and the team doctor. Young managed to leave the ice with help from two teammates.

At the end of two, it was Princeton 4, Sicamous zip.

The third period saw Princeton turn it up another notch. They were playing far better than the week before and continued to excel at their penalty killing skills.

Princeton's Kyle L'Arrivee scored his third goal of the night at 9:57 with assistance from Spencer Brooks. Talk about shaking off a scoring slump!

Princeton added goal #6 at 10:53, scored by Jeremy Wagner with assists going to Spencer Brooks and Riley Ferster.

There were more great moves and awesome saves at both ends of the rink throughout the period and when it was looking as if Kerambelas was going to add a shut out to his stats, Sicamous scored their only goal with 1:46 left in the game.

Final score: Princeton 6, Sicamous 1. Shots on goal: Sicamous 33, Princeton 28.
