POSSE DOUBLE STING

Posse vs Sting

Valley First Princeton Posse hosted Summerland Sting November 17th.

After coming off a string of wins putting Princeton three points ahead of Summerland in their Division, the potential was there for an exciting sixty minutes of Junior B hockey.

Although the first period saw both teams feeling each other out, the game was full of excitement.

Princeton scored first at 4:44 when Summerland defenders started to bring the puck out of their end to be met by the Posse's Garrett Pfeifer who snatched the puck away at the Sting blue line and went in alone. He deked the goalie to the glove side and flipped the puck high into the top stick side corner. The goal was unassisted.

Summerland tied the game with 2:05 left in the period.

The second period saw both teams fired up with one thing in mind scoring.

Posse vs Sting

Princeton's Brad Goss started what turned out to be an amazing game for him with his first goal of the night (short-handed and unassisted) at 6:54. Summerland tied the game at two apiece at 9:13 but Princeton snapped back with another goal scored by Brad Goss 40-seconds later at 9:53. An assist went to Taylor Stuart.

Summerland fought back and tied the game at three apiece at 11:37. Princeton rallied and finished the period with another goal at 14:03 (Taylor Stuart from Brad Goss and Josh Prather).

The third period saw both teams still firing on all cylinders and Princeton widened their lead only 56-seconds into the period when Brad Goss took the puck from centre ice, along the boards to the glove side corner deep in Summerland territory, then sailed across the front of the net and backhanded into the top corner for the score. The shorthanded goal was unassisted and fans tossed hats onto the ice to honour Goss' hat trick.

Summerland started to show their frustration and the last half of the period was filled with penalties for both teams.

Princeton added one more goal, at 7:28 on the power play, following a face off in Sting territory. Spencer Brooks and Taylor Stuart poked at rebounds in front of the Summerland net until Stuart managed to get enough stick on it to score.

Shots on goal: Princeton 34, Summerland 27. Final score: Princeton 6, Summerland 3.
