POSSE TAKE ONE GOAL GAME

Minor hockey

The Valley First Princeton Posse hosted Kamloops Storm November 23rd. Princeton, first place in the Eddie Mountain Conference, West Division, went into the game with an 11-point lead over Kamloops, the fourth place division rival.

On paper it looked as if Princeton had the edge and only 35-seconds into the game the home team scored. Logan Johnston got the goal with assists from Dan Hillman and Brett Van Riper his first game wearing the Captain's 'C' on his jersey.

The rest of the game was a blur. Both teams played exceptionally well, making great plays throughout the remaining 59-minutes and 25-seconds.

However, great goaltending from both teams kept the score unchanged from the first minute of play.

With 1:22 left in the game Kamloops called a time out and pulled their goalie when play resumed, but Princeton could not score.

The Princeton Dairy Queen/Finning Tractor Kamloops Posse Players of the Game were #1: Andrew Walsh, who earned his third shut out of the season; #2 Kyle L'Arrivee, who's amazing stick handing and skating made a huge contribution to the Posse penalty killing unit and #3 Tyler Martin. Shots on goal: Princeton 37, Kamloops 27. Final score: Princeton 1, Kamloops 0.

POSSE LOSES ONE IN OVERTIME

The Valley First Princeton Posse had a firm grip on two firsts going into their November 24th game against Chase Chiefs. In addition to having a lead-leading total in penalty minutes (1,218), their 17-6-1-0 record was good enough to earn the team a percentage of 0.7290 first in the KIJHL.

Princeton's first goal of the night came on the power play at 13:38. Brad Goss got the goal with assists coming from Logan Johnston and Taylor Stuart.

Princeton's second goal was at 16:02. Jeremy Wagner shot the puck from in front of the Chase goal for an unassisted marker.

Chase came back in the second period and scored their first goal at 5:59.

The Posse dominated the balance of the period scoring twice (11:00 Wade Masch from Jeremy Wagner and 15:50 Taylor Stuart on the power play with assists to Logan Johnston and Scott Ramsey).

The third period saw Chase take the Posse three-goal lead and twist it around to a 4-all tie with three of their own scored at 3:11, 4:57 and 16:01.

The overtime period saw fans dispute calls on ice before and after Chase scored with 1:01 left to play. Fans peppered the ice surface with debris and Posse Assistant Coach Kevin Robillard left the bench and confronted officials in what appeared to be a serious debate.

The Princeton Dairy Queen/Finning Tractor Kamloops Posse Players of the Game were: #1 Jeremy Wagner, #2 Scott Ramsey and #3 Wade Masch.
