REBELS STICK IT TO POSSE

After coming off a very successful three-game road trip earning five out of a possible six points, the Valley First Princeton Posse played host to Castlegar Rebels November 28th.

Although Posse Assistant Coach Kevin Robillard said after the game that his team "dictated the play, but couldn't get past the goalie" on paper the Rebels dominated the majority of the game.

Following a delayed start as officials gave the Posse net a lot of attention, which resulted in one of the linesmen going back into the locker room and emerging with a wad of string that he used to repair what must have been a hole or rip in the netting, Castlegar scored at 16:20.

The Rebels added their second goal at 5:20 in the period.

Princeton didn't get on the scoreboard until 12:50 of the second period when Riley Ferster blasted a shot from just inside the blue line into traffic.

Assists on the power play goal went to Brody Brewster and Matt Chomyc.

Castlegar pretty much owned the third period adding three more goals, their final one with 2:08 left to play in an empty net.

The Rebels also dominated on the stat sheet earning 44-minutes in penalties to Princeton's 26-minutes, although Princeton out shot the visiting team 40 to 31.

Final score: Castlegar 5, Princeton 1.

POSSE LOSS TO SUMMERLAND STINGS

What appeared on paper as basically a no-brainer inter-division contest between the second place Valley First Princeton Posse and the last place Summerland Sting on November 29th was anything but predicted.

In what looked like a repeat performance from the night before, the home team just couldn't make anything happen on ice.

Summerland opened the scoring at 10:37.

A minor delay took place at 8:59 when referee Dexter Rasmusson took a stick in the face after a face off which split his top lip. He was attended to by both team trainers and finished the game as if nothing had happened.

Oh, and Summerland scored again with 1:46 left in the period.

The second period saw Summerland score twice, and they started the third period scoring two more goals.

Princeton got on the scoreboard at 12:51 with a goal by Brooks Christensen (from Derrick DeLisser and Kieran Friesen).

But Summerland continued to score with another goal at the 11-minute mark.

The Posse did slide into second gear and put on a great effort for the rest of the game and added a goal at 7:53. Derrick DeLisser was given credit for the goal although it appeared to have been deflected off the skate of a Summerland player. Assists went to Wade Masch and Jared Hidber.

Posse netminder Michael Garteig was obviously frustrated with his performance and went off the ice in favour of Tanner Sheridan with 6-minutes left in the game. Summerland drilled him with ten shots, and nearly scored another goal.

The game was filled with minor penalties throughout and both teams kept their aggressive behaviour focused on the game until after regulation time ran out and Princeton's Kevin Darcy took exception to comments made by Summerland's Carson David. Both duked it out and earned ten-minute game misconducts, five minutes each for fighting and Darcy was given an extra two minutes for instigating.

Final score: Summerland 7, Princeton 2. Shots on goal: Summerland 32, Princeton 29.
