POSSE PLOWS THROUGH ROCKIES

POSSE PLOWS THROUGH ROCKIES

Princeton Posse played host to Columbia Valley Rockies Saturday night and wasted no time in getting on the scoreboard.

Princeton's Jeremy Wagner scored the first marker only 36-seconds into the game. Jamie Sparks was given the assist.

Princeton's second goal was at 3:31 when Chad Hohmann fired one in from in front of the net. Jarrett Pretty Young Man and Stu Purves earned assists.

Columbia Valley got their first goal at 7:29 and Princeton's Chad Hohmann scored the team's third goal (with assists going to Sam Penny and Mike Salter) at 18:29.

The first period ended with Princeton on top 3 to 1.

The second period saw both goaltenders getting a workout stopping a dozen shots each, but the score remained 3 to 1 in favour of the Posse after the period ended.

Columbia Valley kept hustling into the third period and managed to score their second goal at 9:08 but Princeton came back at 15:02 with a 3-on-1 where Chad Hohmann blasted the puck into the Rockies goal. Jessie Tresierra got the assist.

The Rockies called a time out with 1:28 left in the game and pulled their goalie for the extra man.

During the play, Princeton's Chad Hohmann scrambled up the boards from the Posse zone to the Rockies blue line where he was checked into the boards by Lee Zirk.

The two fought for the puck and Zirk backhanded it out of the boards. The puck headed straight for the empty net and Zirk chased after it, but tripped on the way scoring in his own net.

Hohmann was given credit for the goal.

Final score: Princeton 5, Columbia Valley 2. Shots on goal: Columbia Valley 39, Princeton 28.
