POSSE GIVES AWAY FOUR POINTS

POSSE GIVES AWAY FOUR POINTS

The odds were against the Posse in both home games last Friday and Saturday night.

In the first contest, a chippy game against Revelstoke Friday night, Princeton goalie Brad Fraser got the nod. He played a great game between the pipes, but the Revelstoke attack was too much at times.

The first period saw Cody Devitt take the majority of the penalty minutes when he was assessed with 2-minutes for high sticking, 2-minutes for roughing and a 10-minute misconduct.

That set the tone for the second period where Revelstoke bagged their first goal at 3:19 on the power play.

The Grizzlies were getting away with plenty of cheap shots but the period ended without any further scoring.

Princeton tied the game 35-seconds into the third period when Chad Hohmann popped one it off a pass from Stu Purves.

Revelstoke responded with goals at 1:32 and 5:12. Princeton's second goal was on the power play when Connor McGarry went in all alone and beat the Grizzlies goaltender. Assists went to David Wyman and Brad Davis.

Revelstoke scored their fourth goal at 11:24 and Princeton got to within one at 12:54. Jeremy Wagner got the credit with an assist from Jordan Kerr.

Princeton pulled their goalie for the extra man following a time out with one minute to play, but could not tie it up.

Final score: Revelstoke 4, Princeton 3. Shots on goal: Revelstoke 35, Princeton 33.

Saturday night's match against Golden saw bad officiating from the first whistle.

The first period was end-to-end action in a fast paced 20-minutes. Princeton took their first goal at 3:01 when Micah Anderson went in alone from the blue line. Assists went to Jordan Kerr and Adam Coates.

By mid-period the missed calls prompted the audience to yell out penalties missed by the zebras. At one point, a Golden player got away with spearing, but the Posse player got a penalty.

The Xtreme tied the game at 11:04 on the power play and managed to play part of the end of the period with too many men on ice - unnoticed by the officials.

The second period was a bit slower, but the officiating did not improve.

Golden scored goals at 1:20 and 2:59. Princeton got their second goal at 16:29 from Jeremy Wagner on the power play. Assists went to Cody Devitt and David Wyman.

The refs continued to miss hits behind the play and seemed to delay the game themselves while trying to locate pucks or pacify complaints from either bench.

In the third period there was a lot of pushing and shoving on ice. Golden scored goal #4 at 5:10 and #5 at 7:46.

Princeton got another power play goal at 10:46. Chad Hohmann got the credit with help from Mike Salter. The goal fired the Posse up until they got to within one with a goal from Adam Coates at 11:48 when he drifted one into traffic from the blue line. Chad Hohmann got the assist.

Golden called a time out with two minutes to play, and their suspended coach Brad Fox - in an extreme move - ran down from the stands and tossed a crumpled piece of paper over the boards into the Xtreme bench. It was a note to his Assistant Coach. Whatever it said was no help as his team missed an empty net with 1:15 left.

The officials didn't help matters any letting the clock run an extra ten seconds.

Final score: Golden 5, Princeton 4. Shots on goal: Princeton 39, Golden 37.
