PEE WEES WIN, BANTAMS PLAY TWO
On Sunday December 11th Mac Lind Peewees took on the Westside Flames. It was a slow start through the first two periods, where Princeton came out on top 2 goals to one.
After an ice clean and pep talk from the coach Princeton came out flying in the third. The players began to pass a lot better instead of just throwing it away. They also started to skate harder on their fore check and back check. They scored 4 goals to end the game 6 to 1.
Jessie Murray, and Ryan Hearty had an excellent game coming up big when it was needed. Both the defense and the forwards played well. Points came from Taylor Esselink 2 goals 2 assists, Jonas Montgomery 2 goals 2 assists, Keaton Ashley 1 goal 2 assists, Colby Williams 1 goal, Clayton Obee 2 assists, and Kraig Leochko, Ian McKenzie, and Joshua Coyne each had an assist.
From the all the coaches have great Christmas and a Happy New Year!
December 10th had K&M Trucking up against Westside Storm. For the most part Princeton was in the game.
It was a close game in the first period with Westside taking a one-goal lead into the second. Princeton had a lot of opportunities but fell short, falling behind two goals going into the third. This is when the players lost the game by getting into penalty problems. With seven penalties alone in the third the players found them selves playing short handed and began to get too tired to mount an offence. Once again being undisciplined cost them the game, losing 9 to 5. December 11th saw the team play an exhibition game against Merritt. This was a better game to watch as both teams felt the other out for it was their first time meeting. Princeton came out strong scoring the first two goals, but Merritt was not to be denied scoring the next three to end the first period.
At the end of the second with two minutes to go Bryce Markin tied the game up before going into the third. With the game tied at 5 a side to start the third period Bryce Markin then scored just 30 seconds into the period to give Princeton the lead.
Shawn Hearty then added an insurance goal at the 3-minute mark to end the game Princeton 7 Merritt 5. Points for the weekend were Bryce Markin 4 goals 5 assists, Colton Williams 4 goals 4 assists, Shawn Hearty 3 goals, Nicholas Yee 4 assists, and Vian Maritz with 2 assists.
I would like to wish the Bantams Kiel, Milen, Colton, Kenny, Bryce, Shawn, Clint, Vian, Scott, and Nick a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
