POSSE LOSES TO SICAMOUS EAGLES
Bad weather through Manning Park slowed the referees from arriving in Princeton on time for Friday nightąs match between Princeton Posse and Sicamous Eagles.
The pre-game warm up was 15-minutes later than usual with face-off a half hour later than the scheduled 7:30 PM, but that didnąt matter as fans present at the game saw a pretty good match up between the Division Leading Eagles and the home team.
The Posse had made three changes to their line up. Seth Armitage was back and wearing #18 with Sam Penny of Cold Lake, Alberta in #11 and Jamie Sparkes of Fort Saskatchewan wearing jersey #66.
Princeton got on the stat sheet first with a penalty 22-seconds into the game when Brad Davis was called for hitting from behind. It earned him a 2-minute break plus a game misconduct.
That call should have set the tone for the game, but didnąt. Princeton came out hard and Jamie Sparkes put the Posse on the scoreboard with a behind-the-net wrap around power play goal to the left of the Sicamous netminder. The goal was at 9:10 and assists went to Jeremy Wagner and Adam Coates.
Sicamous tied the game with 1:08 left in the period.
The second period saw more exciting action at both ends of the arena. Sicamous got their go ahead goal at 9:26 with both teams down one man.
Princeton put lots of pressure on the Eagle goal, and Princeton goalie Greg Sentes made some incredible saves, but the period ended with Sicamous on top 2-1.
The third period saw a missile shot at the Princeton goal at 5:49, which appeared to have been stopped by Sentes, but must have got caught in pads and ended up slipping past the goal line. The Eagles got goal number 4 at 7:04 after pressuring the Posse goal.
Sentes made more incredible saves in the period, but it wasnąt enough as Sicamous ended the game winning with a score of 4-1.
Shots on goal: Princeton 17, Sicamous 56.
