STORM ROARS THROUGH ARENA

Basking in the glow of a win over Summerland Sting in an away game Friday night, Princeton Posse met Osoyoos Storm at home Saturday night. It was a good game, with plenty of action.

First period was a hot stretch of end to end hockey with neither team scoring a goal. Second period was another story entirely.

Second period saw Storm score 14 seconds after face-off. Less than a minute later, Storm scored their second goal.

The Posse took a penalty, then Chad Hohman, assisted by Zach Big Swan, surprised Storm by scoring a goal on Stormšs power play.

A fight broke out midway through the period and two players retired to their respective dressing rooms for the rest of the game.

Storm scored their third goal. Then the Posse came back with a great goal by Adam Coates, assisted by Connor McGarry and Jamie Sparks. Seth Armitage followed with a third goal for the Posse, tying the game 3-3.

Storm saw a great opportunity when the Posse goalie left the net unattended, apparently looking for the puck. He found it in his own net as Storm scored. Second period ended 4-3 for Storm.

Third period began with a Posse power play that went nowhere. Seven minutes into the frame, Storm scored their fifth goal. Posse took a penalty, and Storm took advantage, scoring goal six. Coates took a game penalty when he showed temper when he was penalized for tripping. Storm scored goal seven on a puck that bounced off the goaliešs glove.

To their credit, the Posse never gave up the game even when they were down 7-3. Storm took a penalty and Posse scored their fourth goal.

With a minute and a half left in the game, Tresierra enjoyed a fist fight with a Storm player, and went off the ice early. This fight was followed half a minute later with another fight.

The game ended 7-4 for Storm, who earned most of their goals with a technique of skating head on toward the goalie, then skating straight across the crease and shooting the puck high into the short side. In this play, there is no time for the goalie to move to the open side, and if no defenceman is covering, it is a sure goal.

The Sunday afternoon match between Princeton and Revelstoke was cancelled when the team bus broke down and the Grizzlies were unable to make it to Princeton.

Princeton Posse Hockey Club meets this Thursday night at the arena mezzanine at 8:00 p.m.
