CLUB PREPARES FOR SEASON

The Princeton Figure Skating Club has secured coaching services of Holly Silzer. Holly Silzer is a Skating Coach/Choreographer most recently from the Whistler Figure Skating Club. Silzer has 18 years experience with a background of Instructing Powerskating skills for hockey players.

Silzer's career highlights include Head Skating Coach in Whistler, Producer/Director of 17 ice shows, Choreographer for the Regina Figure Skating Club, and Powerskating Instructor for the Okanagan Hockey School.

She is also a BC Certified Teacher holding an Arts Education Degree K-12 with a Double Major in Dance and Music and 2 Post Baccalaureates in Elementary Education.

Silzer now resides in Penticton and looks forward to an exiting season as new coach of the Princeton Figure Skating Club.

Registration for the 2005/06 season will be held on September 12, 2005 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM in the arena lobby. If you are unable to make the registration session, you can also register by calling the Club Registrar, Patty Allison at (250) 295-6754.

The Princeton Figure Skating Club offers 4 levels of figure skating programming. Beginning with the Learn to Skate program for ages 4 and 5, then on to Canskate Level B for ages 6 and up working on badges 3-5.

From the Canskate level, skaters can advance to Group Starskate where they learn more detailed patterns and skills, and finally into the full Starskate Test Stream where skaters advance through Preliminary to Gold Dances, Skills and Freeskate.

The 2005/06 skating schedule is Monday, Wednesday and Friday as follows:

Learn to skate: Monday and Wednesday from 3:30 to 4:00 PM.
Canskate B: Monday and Wednesday from 3:45 to 4:45 PM.
Group Starskate: Monday and Wednesday from 4:45 to 6:00 PM.
Starskate Test: Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 5:30 to 7:00 PM (some variations apply).


Registration fees have not changed from the previous season, however there are some changes as a result of reformatting. Fees for Learn to Skate, Canskate and Group Starskate include ice and coaching fees. Fees for Starskate Test Skaters includes ice fees, where coaching fees are paid privately.

Registration fees for 2005/06 season are as follows and offer good value for skaters and parents:
Learn to Skate : $167.00 or $3.00 per skating session - Canskate B: $267.00 or $5.35 per skating session - Group Starskate: $336.00 or $6.70 per skating session - Starskate Test: $397.00 or $2.65 per skating session (does not include coach fees).

Payment plans are available, however at a minimum insurance, tickets and memberships fees must be paid on September 12, 2005. Full payment must be received by January 31, 2006.

The skating season starts Monday September 19, 2005 for Startskate Test skaters, the Monday, September 26, 2005 for Group Starskate, and October 3, 2005 for Learn to Skate and Canskate skaters.
